Enhancing Rural Healthcare in Tainan: Public-Private Collaboration for "POCUS Ultrasound Workshop"
To improve healthcare services in rural areas of Tainan, the Tainan City Government Public Health Bureau partnered with 'ALTRUISTIC+Social Enterprise' to host the "POCUS Wireless Handheld Ultrasound Workshop" today (5th) at Yongkang District Health Center. Dr. Chiu Po-Wei from the Emergency Department of National Cheng Kung University Hospital was invited to lead the training. POCUS technology has become an essential clinical diagnostic tool, and this workshop combined theoretical and practical training to help local healthcare professionals effectively apply this technology. By enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses, this initiative aims to enhance medical care in underserved communities.
Director-General Lee Tsui-Feng of the Public Health Bureau emphasized that abdominal ultrasound is a crucial diagnostic tool for detecting various diseases, particularly in aiding the early detection of liver cancer, which significantly increases the chances of early diagnosis. Every year, Tainan City organizes the "Mobile Hospital National Health Checkup" program, providing five key liver cancer screening indicators within communities. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in these screenings to safeguard their health.
The Public Health Bureau expressed gratitude to 'ALTRUISTIC+Social Enterprise' for its support. Through public-private collaboration, they continue to strengthen primary healthcare resources, ensuring that citizens receive high-quality and accessible medical services. The organization actively assists local governments in developing community healthcare initiatives, optimizing medical resource allocation, and promoting preventive healthcare to reduce future healthcare costs. Together, they are working towards the vision of a healthier Taiwan.
