WHO Social Participation
As the Global population ages and the need for overall community care increases, "freedom, equality, and social justice" are one of the major issues that friendly city environments need to address. By integrating social resources through public-private partnerships, Taiwan aims to increase the coverage of social services, deeply explore the needs of vulnerable populations in the community, and construct, safeguard, and promote humane sustainable development goals.
The Taitung County Government has collaborated with businesses and civil groups to develop a social welfare system that allows healthy and sub-healthy seniors to continue to participate and contribute to society through volunteering, as well as to leverage local characteristics to enhance social participation. With the power of the group, disadvantaged groups in the community can build a collaborative network, generating empathy and integration in the community, enabling self-reliance and return to society, and establishing a community-based self-sustaining support system. Through cross-domain collaboration and connected services, the social safety net is strengthened, and a caring and warm message of sustainability is conveyed.
Taitung County is developing into an age-friendly city, aiming to provide opportunities for both healthy and sub-healthy seniors to continue participating and contributing to society through volunteering. Additionally, the county seeks to help disadvantaged groups in the community by building a collaborative network through the power of the group.
